The Benefits of LED Lighting for the Environment
Everyone has a role to play in caring for our environment. A small change that can largely impact this realm is switching to LED lighting, especially commercial solar LED lights. LED lights have more than one benefit for the environment, stemming from their life expectancy and non-toxicity. You may also need to use less of them compared to other bulbs. Let’s light up a few of these aspects a little bit more.
Lifespan
LED lights are best known for their incredible life expectancy. On average, LED lights are up to 80 percent more efficient than traditional lighting (such as incandescent lights and fluorescent lights). You can replace a standard 84-watt fluorescent bulb with a 36-watt LED bulb. This difference in wattage shows just how much less energy LEDs really require.
Non-Toxic
Fluorescent lights are still commonly used today in various applications. Unfortunately, these lights have a smaller life expectancy and can be harmful to the environment. Mercury, for example, is common in these lights. If not disposed of correctly, this toxic element can seep into other areas of the environment, such as landfills and even water sources. Thankfully, LEDs don’t use harmful elements and only benefit the environment rather than hinder its health.
Less Quantity
The beauty of LEDs is that they last longer and shine brighter. Consequently, you can install fewer bulbs than you would need with other types to achieve the same illumination. LEDs do this by focusing their line in one direction instead of emitting light in all directions like traditional lights. Not only does this conserve energy, but it also creates a brighter light. The environment and your wallet will thank you for choosing LED lights.
LED lights’ benefits for the environment largely outweigh their competition on the market. From their longer lifespan and clean materials to their lower necessary quantity, LEDs are worth investing in commercially.
